ABOUT THE BAND
Dikanda is a World Music band formed in 1997 in Szczecin, Poland. Over their nearly 30-year history, the group has released 8 music albums and performed around 2,000 concerts spanning locations from the USA to Bangladesh, and from Sweden to Morocco. They have also earned numerous awards and recognitions.

Dikanda’s concerts, focused on connection and interaction with the audience, offer a fiery and emotional journey through sounds, places, and feelings. Constantly seeking new mediums of expression, the band takes inspiration from the musical encounters that lead to bold, unconventional combinations and sounds that are inspired by the music of the Balkans, the Middle East, the Carpathian Arc, as well as Africa, the Orient, and the surrounding world.

The band’s universal message is expressed through traditional songs and, more importantly, by creating their unique musical narrative. This storytelling is conveyed through sounds alongside the seemingly absurd lyrics in an invented language of emotion and heart – known as “dikandish”.
